Respiratory care is a healthcare occupation comprised of practitioners who, under physician supervision, are trained to actively participate in the care of patients, especially the monitoring and treatment of cardiopulmonary function. Respiratory Therapists at Jackson General Hospital are licensed by the West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care as required by State Law and earn ten credit hours of continuing education every year. Therapists are certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Therapists provide services hospital wide. Services include oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, arterial blood gas procurement, mechanical ventilation, electrocardiogram (ECG), and pulmonary function testing (PFT). Dr. Arif Malik is the Medical Director. An order from a physician is required for all Respiratory Care procedures. |
