All-New Aquilion PRIME Puts Customers First in Adapting to Changing Patient and Business Needs
Jackson General Hospital is constantly updating equipment and searching for technology that better meets patient needs. When seeking a replacement for the previous 32-slice CT Scanner, research went into a system that offered the best in usability, dose management, and adaptability. The solution was Toshiba’s all-new AquilionTM PRIME. The system delivers on customers’ clinical needs today. It’s impressive features include:
- Small Footprint: Providers are able to maximize existing rooms and resources, as the smaller Aquilion PRIME can fit into tighter spaces.
- Patient-Focused: To ensure that patients are safe and comfortable, the Aquilion PRIME features a large bore (78 cm), advanced dose reduction technology (AIDR 3D) and a high-capacity couch that can move laterally and is low to the ground.
- Adaptive Diagnostics: The Aquilion PRIME features innovative solutions to solve clinical challenges with simplified workflow and consistent quality results for a range of patients, from pediatric to bariatric. The system comes standard with advanced features and technologies.
- Fast Exams: Clinicians can diagnose faster and improve workflow with the industry’s quickest image reconstruction speed of up to 60 images per second.
“The hospital is very excited about the new CT Scanner. With the available software, we are able to perform CTs at 40-60% reduction in the dose without compromising image quality. The “CT Team” reviewed 3 different scanners and realized there was no image quality comparison…the Toshiba far surpassed the competition!” states Jackson General Hospital Imaging Services Director, Janet Pancake.
JGH Radiologist, Dr. Mark Younis, continues by saying, “This allows patients with lingering medical issues who require multiple exams to feel assured that their radiation exposure will be held to a minimum.”

JGH CCU Nurse was definitely in the right place at the right time!
Registered Nurse, Sarah Green Gandee, was instrumental in saving a 6 year old girl's life last week at the Ravenswood Pool. Along with lifeguard, Damian Morriston, who pulled the child from the 5 foot end of the pool unconscious and blue, measures were quickly taken to revive her. Sarah performed CPR and drained the water from the little girl's lungs for several minutes before she began to respond. Sarah's quick call to action, 13+ years of experience as a nurse, and additional training in PALS (pediatric advanced life support), gave her the skills necessary to save a life off duty as she often does on the job. We're so proud to have quality healthcare providers who are an essential part of our community!
